Scotland's First Minister Yousaf is facing increasing crises within his party, which observers see as being in a state of complete collapse, especially with police investigations into possible financial irregularities in the party.

In a result that laid bare the huge divisions in the party following a fractious campaign, Humza Yousaf defeated Kate Forbes and Ash Regan.

Humza Yousaf, currently serving as the Scottish Health Secretary, is up against Kate Forbes, a devout Christian and the country’s current Finance Secretary, as well as Ash Regan, a former junior minister who quit the government to protest against the party’s plans to scrap gender recognition certificates.

On February, 15, 2023, Nicola Sturgeon dropped a political bombshell by announcing she’ll resign as Scotland’s first minister in the coming weeks.
